Drug Screening
At PSI we recognize that drug testing has become an important safety issue in the workplace for Human Resources and Safety Professionals. We provide a comprehensive menu of services for regulated and non-regulated employers and we will work with you to customize a drug testing program to meet your company’s specific needs. This menu of services includes specimen collection, laboratory coordination, medical review and reporting of substance abuse testing results. All drug testing results are delivered in our easy to read background investigation reports and invoicing is integrated with our research screening services.
Nearly 75 percent of all adult illicit drug users are employed, as are most binge and heavy alcohol users (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). Studies show that when compared with non–substance abusers, substance-abusing employees are more likely to:
- Change jobs frequently
- Be late to or absent from work
- Be less productive employees
- Be involved in a workplace accident
- File a workers’ compensation claim
Employers who have successfully implemented drug-free workplace programs share the following benefits:
- Improvement in morale and productivity, and decreases in absenteeism, accidents, downtime, turnover, and theft
- Better health status among employees and family members and decreased use of medical benefits
- Some organizations with drug-free workplace programs qualify for incentives, such as decreased costs for workers’ compensation and other kinds of insurance
At PSI we offer a variety of solutions to help screen your potential employees and current employees. We can customize our services to fit your needs. Below are some of the common drug test types:

D.O.T. Drug Test-Required for all D.O.T. Regulated Industries
DOT Drug Tests screen for the same 5 drugs as does the Five-Panel. The Department of Transportation requires DOT drug testing of safety-sensitive employees in transportation industries. A DOT drug test involves the use of a special “chain of custody” form, a split sample test, and a review of the drug testing process and laboratory results by a Medical Review Officer (MRO).
*Many of our clients also choose to add Oxycodone or Ecstasy to the above tests. Testing for Oxycodone is highly recommended for those clients in the healthcare industry. These may be added to any of the tests above for a small additional fee.
