In 1998, Gregory E. Sumner, Ph.D., founded Private Security & Investigations, Inc., better known as PSI. PSI was designed to serve as an all inclusive corporate security and investigative company. Since its inception, PSI has been conducting pre-employment screening for companies of all sizes around the world.

In 2002, PSI became an exclusive pre-employment screening company. As a result, and to better identify PSI with the services they provide, in 2006, the name Private Security & Investigations, Inc. was changed to Professional Screening & Information, Inc.

PSI began with a simple concept--to provide Professionalism, Service & Integrity to every client. By maintaining that concept, the company has become a leader in the field of pre-employment screening. At PSI, every background investigation goes through a quality control process whereby each and every part of the background investigation is evaluated for accuracy and any errors and omissions. By combining technology and personal attention to detail, PSI is able to provide its clients with pre-employment screening services they can feel confident relying upon.

There are two aspects that set us apart from our competitors in the pre-employment screening industry. The first is our unique online individual/organization driven background screening component. This is an online facilitator for organizations, colleges and universities, whereby an individual submits the required information and payment for their background investigation electronically at our website. The applicant, organization and college or university can then login with a designated security code and obtain the results of the background investigation. In addition, an individual can order a background investigation on themselves to determine what information is available and reportable to potential employers before applying for employment.

The second is our Employment Verification Service (EVS). Through many years of experience in the pre-employment screening industry, we have determined an additional area in which we can reduce the risk of our clients, in addition to saving them time and money. Isn’t this the dream of all businesses? At PSI we made this dream a reality. We created a proprietary service called Employment Verification Service (EVS). It is very simple. You enter the following information into our online system: name of a former employee, their social security number, dates of employment, job title, eligibility for rehire and salary (optional). Once this is done, you will never have to provide an employment verification on this person again. The reason is because it is electronically stored in PSI’s EVS system which is available to other employers online.

Now when another employer calls you to obtain an employment verification on a former employee, you simply give them a unique Employment Verification Organizational code, which is specific to your organization and our website. They would then log in, pay a nominal fee and obtain the necessary information they need for their employment verification. This process reduces your risk of providing unnecessary or inaccurate information about a past employee, in addition to saving you valuable time having to look through old files or a computer database to find the information. Plus, if PSI conducts your monthly background checks, a portion of the fee paid for the employment verification will be credited to your account.
